inspriation avenue - New Year

Dearest Minions,
Greetings and Salutations Mes Ami,

Here is my entry to this week's Inspiration Avenue challenge. I was lucky enough to be given by a good friend a Elephant poo paper book and another good friend gave me Alphabetica by Lynne Perrella. I want to try an Art journal this coming year and below is my first page. I have really enjoyed reading and looking at the pictures in the book they are such a good trigger and can anyone sane really not love a book made out of Elephant poo paper?

I hope to improve and develop new ways of making mess on my craft table.

Have a wonderful new year my most wonderful Bunnies of Doom!

inspriation avenue - Believe

Dearest Minions,

Here is my entry to the Inspiration Avenue challenge-Believe. Angel image on transparency over Latin stamped paper. I have flu at this moment in time and I have decided to live within a huge jumper and shuffle about whining. I feel that this cure is over looked by modern medicine and should be used whenever possible.

Angel stamp

Dearest Minions,

Next to world domination, sex, chocolate, reading and cats, stamping is definitely a favorite thing. I recently got a wonderful Angel stamp from Blade stamps and I have to say it rocks. Here are some of my Xmas cards that I have made with it.

Thank you for looking.

New ATC

Dearest Minions,

I haven't made any ATCs in ages, but suddenly I have had a bit of inspiration. I have no idea if this is a quote or if just came out of the air but this is called "words fall from the mouths of poets like autumn leafs."

Distress inks and tattered leafs dies by Tim Holtz, words from T S Eliot and The Water babies.

Bury LETS Meeting November

Dearest most treasured minions,

On Tuesday it was the Burylets market place and the theme was thrifty gifts. Two of our very creative members did us proud, the Recycler showed us various beautifully smelling gifts above and below.

The Dollmaker showed us how to make wonderful Xmas wreaths out of ribbon bits and little bits of material. We wondered on other uses for the wreaths and below is one we came up with...

it was a very cool evening.

kickass glass case

Dearest Minions,

Inspired by the new Pretty Reckless album- Light me up, I made this rock and roll case for er.. my glasses. I have done the whole black finger nail polish and goth rock thing, but I never stopped liking the music.

I like walking passed some of the Emos, while wearing my business suit and thinking "I was watching New Model Army while you were cuddling Elmo."

Excellent books

Dearest Minions,
I am very much enjoying Susanna Gregory's books not only would I highly recommend them, but they are also recommended by the evil Dr Nebula.

There are two different series, one set is set in restoration London which is excellent as it gives a personal view of a turbulent time. A time full of religious zealots and economic instability.....hhhmmmmmm.

The other is set in Medieval Cambridge, the first book features the black death. Facts and figures do not convey the scope of the devastation. Go into work and look at your co-workers, one person in three died, in some villages everyone died. Hard to think of it.

The Artisan Show

Dearest Minions,

 the cult of Tim Holtz
As the broom stick wasn't working I had to drive to the Artisan show on Friday. Three hours drive there and three hours drive back in pouring rain and it was actually worth it.

I met some excellent people such as the staff from creative moments who had a brilliant range of Tim Holtz products and a great price on distress re-inkers.

I also met Katy Fox and Helen Chilton from Craft Stamper magazine, they were really interesting to talk to and were really nice to boot.

fellow crafty women
As I had come so far I signed up for a work shop with Crafty Individuals it which I made something removed from my usual style. I would defiantly recommend doing a work shop if you go to a show as they really give yo a taste of something different. You also get to meet fellow crafters/evil overlords.

not my usual style but good clean fun

There were some excellent stalls and the restaurant wasn't bad either
however there were some strange and slightly evil sheep in the grounds of the exhibition center. I got the feeling that they were bidding their time before invasion.

Inside the Norman Tower

Dearest Minions,
Never let it be said that I miss chances to bring my world domination to the fore. Using the national heritage days to my own dastardly ends I infiltrated the Norman Tower, one of the most well known buildings in Bury St Edmunds. I climbed the awful steep, winding and worn stairs to bring you photos of the inside and claim this bell Tower as a secret (not very) base.

The original Norman structure has remained similar to it's original state, with black bracing, which is visible in some of the photos, added in the Victorian era. The bells lodged high up in the tower are useful as an instrument of torture and a pleasant sound, so long as you are not standing by the one that is ringing, which I was; it is very loud, but still more pleasant than a Jedward song.
it is bad show to mention Esmeralda

the bells were once even higher
Churchgate Street as viewed from the Tower

a large bells normally a tipple here a literal
this is the underneath of the building the hatch is where they took the bells out in 1978 for retuning and then they re-hung them

Chequer Square from under the Tower

the Abbey green from under the Tower

And so ends this report.

Sew it's your birthday

Dearest Minions,

Another evil Overlord had a birthday recently as I gave her sewing stuff (for experimentation on people who call others pet, love and sweetheart when they have no formal letter of introduction.) This is the card I made her.

The image is from http://digitaltuesday.blogspot.com/  who have wonderful images available for free, the papers are basic grey, who will be designing the decor in my palaces and the inks used to colour in the image are distressed (as they are not invited to parties.)

Burylets garden party

Dearest Minions,

This weekend we celebrated in style at the Burylets Garden Party. The lovely nosh that is on the table was brought by members to share. I think illustrates the whole ethos of Burylets NOWT IN NOWT OUT. (OK so it is more barter and exchange blah blah) But as in craft, life, the universe and world domination if you do not participate  you get very little in return.

An excellent time was had by all and I would like to express my huge thanks to Peter and Val for having the garden party in their garden.

New Mutant Army

Dearest Minions,
I wanted to unveil my new mutant army and here it is. As you can see it is the delectable Boris Johnson grafted on to fungus, with this I will take OVER THE WORLD. (They move like triffids and unlike old Daleks can climb stairs.)

Please rest assured that all my beloved minions will be safe from the yawning menace as they are known.

Excellent gift wrapping

Dearest Minions,

As all of you who follow the ways of Evil Edna will know, I am opposed to wrapping paper. Recently another evil overlord known as THE RECYCLER presented me with a gift. As you can see it is sumptuous and inviting. Also for those who have not got the time or the inclination to sew it is a great way to wrap a gift in a gift (as I will have fun creating things out of the shiny material.)

Fitzwilliam museum- waving at the sea

Dearest Minions,

As I like to review museums in my domain and make sure that they will be useful as bases of dictatorship, I was delighted to find the Fitzwilliam museum is perfect for a winter palace. (It really does look like a Russian dictator's winter palace, although I think the lion statues should wear party hats.)

At the moment the Fitzwilliam has gone with a water theme, in the Japanese Art area there is currently an exhibition on the sea "gifts of ebb and tide" which features the famous wave print by Hokusai. I was really interested to see this image as it is so iconic. Like the Mona Lisa it is small and while the sea is still vibrant in it's shades of blue the sky has faded to a pale grey. It is stunning a well worth seeing as is the rest of the exhibition, esp. the print which depicts a famous Japanese legend in which crabs with the faces of dead soldiers on their backs battle a monk and a warrior..... if that is not inspiring for mad scientists then what is?

Maggi Hambling's The Wave is also an awesome display of the power of the North sea or the big blue wet thing to coin a foozie bear ism. However what really floated my boat was something that I normally avoid as it reminds me of bad gift shop presents. There is an exhibition of 21st century engraved glass I was surprised at the how much I liked some of the display (there were some expensive crap gift shop things.) Hopefully it has inspired some molecules, with the layering of images inside the glass.

Do have a peak at Maggi Hambling's work if you get the chance it does for the sea what Banksy does for concrete.

Feathers

Dearest Minions,

I found out something rather excellent. You can stamp on feathers! I used stazon ink to stamp on these ones pictured. I then pressed them between two acrylic stamping blocks then placed the Night watch books on top for a week. (Nothing like Russian tomes on good and a bit evilish to squish things into shape.)

So stamp away sweeties!

EE

PS MAJOR WARNING ONLY STAMP ON FEATHERS YOU FIND AS THE BIRDS GET VICIOUS IF YOU STAMP ON THEM WHILE STILL ATTACHED.

Green Fair

Dearest Minions,

Have had rather a session making cards for the Fire Station Green Fair that takes place in Bury St Edmunds (10-4pm) next Saturday (10th.) Burylets have a stall and the proceeds will go towards our summer party, as I want lots of Pimms I have been making a lot of cards.
