Inventors -TIOT Sarah E Goode

Greetings,

This is my design team piece for the lastest TIOT challenge which is inventors. I triedx to look up some female inventors and found only 28 on wikipeda. I was stunned, however women could not have patents in their own right for centuries, when it was legal even then it was really hard for a woman to have the invention in her own name.

So for Sarah E Goode (1850 -1905) to be one of the first Afro American women to have a patent is a massive achievement in it's own right. Sarah invented the cabinet bed which folded into a cabinet that could hold staionary and other items when not in use. She and her husband owned a furniture shop and found that their customers did not have space. Hence the quote.

Best Wishes

torn it travel

Greetings,

This is my entry to the craft stamper challenge this month, which is to use the tearing article by the wonderful Helen Chilton (I met her once, she is defiantly someone I'd go down the pub with.) I have used an old map of London which the car is bursting out of. The recipient of the card asked for several books on London hence the theme. I did a matching tag for her gift bag. The stamp is by Visible image a company that I came across at the Alexandra Palace stamp show, they stood out from the crowd and the staff were really helpful too.

I am entering this into the city crafter challenge- Bon Voyage  which fits with the travel theme.

Bossiney Bay Zombie Ballet

Dearest Minions,

I have been playing about with new stash from Deviant Scrap. The figures are from Dance with Zombies, the cave is in Bossiney Bay, Cornwall, which is an area I love dearly and would like to be more often. I am pleased to say that we did not have to get passed the tutu wearing horrors when we were there.

Exhibit A : Heart of Snow White

Dearest Minions,

Thank you for your comments on the steam punk heart brooch, more have been made.

This one is inspired by reading Neil Gaiman's version of Snow White and watching far too much CSI (but not Miami - it seems like the joke one crossed with a Ginger unclean Harry.) It made me rethink the story, which had never been a favourite of mine and I made it a touch steam punk, what if the Huntsman was an engineer? and Snow white was more the recent film version but with emotion? By the way had a ball watching the bloody Hansel and Gretal - Witch Hunters, it was so much stupid fun. Grimm guns!

The brooch is a tin heart, embossed, sanded, inked with alchol inks, then a cog and inked cog added and finished with a pointer.

I would like to enter this into the following challenges:
SanDee & Amelie's steampunk challenges - fairy tales
Anything but a card - inspired by - (Neil Gaiman, Snow white and the Huntsman, CSI and Hansel and Gretal witch hunters.)

bare bones in a bag

Greetings!

This is my entry to this weeks CAS challenge from Macabre Monday- bare bones, the image is a great digi from Dilly Beans which I have just coloured and added the sentiment - "love you in pieces." I the bag once held a "cook like Grannie" cookie mix, so I have gleefully perverted it into it's present form - cookies tasted good.

I will have to be careful who I give this gift bag to.... or maybe I wont! There has been more snow flurries In Bury St Edmunds, but it hasn't settled and the churchyard doesn't look like this anymore!

Easter Bunnies

Dearest Minions,

This is my Easter project and below is how I used the image. The  above image was created using product from the awesome Deviant Scrap, the majority of images are from the ever talented Itkupilli, but there are freebies as well, like the Easter and steam punk packs. If you are interested in digital art this is a great site.

I decided to use the image with stamping and paper craft. I am entering these beauties into the following challenges:
the card- Dilly beans - image with Tim Holtz -Papillion as the background with distress ink colouring.
The card and box - Octopode Factory - Easter
The egg box to CASual Fridays - Funny bunnies! but not a card.

I would also like to thank a fellow DT TIOT member, Sandee for inspiration for the box, which was a last minute panic.
