steampunk jewels

Dearest minions,

I have started dabbling in making wearable bits. I would like to enter this into the Sunday stampers challenge this week week which is something shiny. This is a rusted tin heart from Calio crafts which I have sanded and stamped with a script stamp and popped on Tim Holtz cogs and a pointer and then slapped on a brooch back. Tada! do let me know what you think.

I am also letting it loose on:
Clearly inspired -anything goes
Creative corner Challenges -anything goes
Hotshot crafts -anything but a card

Recycle it BABY! (DT TIOT)

Good Day,

May the sunshine upon you and your boots never get holes in them. This is my Design Team Piece for the current Try it on Tuesday challenge which is recycling. This is a book which I have covered using ceral packet cardboard.
I wanted something that looked faded, old and a bit battered. I went back to basics and used distress inks and water, I really like this look. The string is reused from a gift.

The wonderful Crafty Emblies are sponsoring us this month, do have a look at their wonderful website.

Greens in sisco

Dearest Minions,

This is a card for a dear friend of mine, who runs a most excellent blog: The Rubbish Diet. She is at the international Zero waste conference in San Francisco, reporting on all things good, bad and recycled, hence the card sentiment "You left your heart (and various other body parts which the Police Department wish to discuss with you) in San Francisco." I have made this to welcome her home and say a big well done. Do have a look at her blog, it is informative, warm and interesting without being preachy or "greener than thou", which gets right up my nose.

The digi is a brand new purchase from Dilly Beans their challenge this week is Glitter which fits the bling heart perfectly. I am also entering this card into the following challenges: Through the craft room door - anything goes & Paper pretties - Glitter

DT TIOT - hats and Easter Bonnets

Dearest Minions,

This is my DT piece for the latest Try it on Tuesday challenge which is Easter Bonnets and hats. This is ATC regarding the weather in the UK at the moment which is snow and 40 mph freezing winds. So the woolly hat , gloves and fetching scarf is very apt.  The image was coloured and masked and then the background was sprayed with Dylusion sprays - blue and white to give the mottled effect. I then heat embossed snow flakes over the top.

I hope that you are warm and well.

Dilly Bean stripes

Dearest Minions,

Here is my second card of girlieness. The images are from the excellent Dilly beans and I am also entering this into their challenge this week which is stripes and the wunderkin at that craft place are having an anything goes challenge so got to be done really. The paper is from a paper pack from a magazine ages ago.

As the theme is stripes here are some photos I took today in Lavenham of some of the beautiful old buildings. (if you are in the area do have munchies in Sweetmeats - it is just wonderful. the ice cream is amazing I had pistacho, mango and rum and honey and stem ginger.)
and finally here is a tiny door espeacially for Michelle...

Mothers day post

Dearest minions,

Greetings, I have made two cards this weekend and they have both been feminine and pretty, I think that I shall have to make something really gory for next week to balance it out. This is my Mother's day card. I am entering it into the wonderful less is more who had a pink doughnut palette as inspiration

- I prefer chocolate, for reference in Doughnuts bribary. I am also entering this into Sunday stampers- something pretty (do check out the blog Hel's rocks) and last but by no means least all sorts challenge blog- for a Lady.

The stamps used are paper artsy - female image, Tim Holtz script on background and paper and the butterfly from my mind eye. the inks were distress and the coloured card was created using the wrinkle free technique. The card is from food packaging & is very absorbent.

I also wanted to share a couple of Spring images of magnolia trees that I took in the Cambridge Botanical gardens this week as they rather go with spring pastel theme.

and fluffiness
