the fox and the squirrell - inspired by a book

Last weekend I went to the NEC Sewing and Hobbycraft show this weekend it was wonderful, lots of exhibitors, artists and great companies. Here are a few photos from the day.

I can not recommend it enough, the mix of stalls and exhibitions was really inspiring. I tried new things meet some wonderful ladies on the silk painting and came home with a new hobby - needle felting. When you are clumsy with plump fingers this is an extreme sport,  below are my first attempts. I still have use of most fingers.

Spring kitty

Greetings,

This is a card for a friend who became the grand age of 11 last week. She shares my adoration of felines and spring, I found this excellent image at east wind which combined both. She also asked if she could be eaten by an anaconda from Christmas, so she has a healthy grasp on the surreal (I offered to put her in a sleeping bag full of jelly and gone off milk, to help her prepare.)

I do like silver birches in the spring with their lambs tails and fresh green leafs. Although I love them in the autum when they turn golden, so expect to this image again with an autumn twist. Here is an espeaically springlike Squirrel for the whole vibe.

WHEE!

I am entering the card (not the Squirrel, he will not stay still) into the following challenges:

east wind - spring
through the craft room door - anything goes
cateredcrop - spring fever
the squirrel and the fox - autumn or Spring - seemed suitable

bring out the pink

I can't help it, in my mind I have adapted the challenge tittle of add something pink to "bring out the pink, but the pink's sleeping?" which is normally from pulp fiction and is regarding a gimp. but enough of our pvc clad friends. this very CSA card is for the Lavinia stamps challenge- add pink and is made using a digi image Bryony. The image is coloured using pink flexi markers and copics. I have then added diamond dust glitter to the image.

I am also entering this to the following challenges:

Crafts and me challenge - anything goes
Doodle pantry -any digi goes

happy birthday human race

Greetings,

The latest challenge on Try it on Tuesday is happy birthday with a twist use a mask. I have used an Andy Skinner mask over the back print of number stencil, then stamped over the top with Designs by Ryn circle stamp.

When I was little I used to think that it was human beans rather than being beings... this may have been something to do with some mexican jumping beans that I had with cute little faces in weenie little hats!

OMG the cute

I know it's, well cute and it makes me want to just go ahhhhh, almost like a rash.

My justification is that is it for a really nice little person called Daisy, (it would be really bad if her name was Sally and I gave her this card.)

The beautiful image is from the eastwind which is a awesome shop which I found on the most excellent handmade by Maureen blog. This image is a freebie(!) which I coloured with promarkers and mounted on botanicals papers.

I am entering this into
less is more- yellow and green
eastwind- use a digi
the allsorts challenge - spring is coming
